The Iowa Supreme Court will announce its decision on the 6-week abortion ban on a Friday in June, either June 21st or June 28th. At 5:30 the day of the announcement, Planned Parenthood will hold a rally at Lafayette Park in Davenport, IA. The Gender Equity forum encourages everyone who cares about reproductive freedom to gather that day. Even if the Iowa Supreme Court rules in our favor, those who want to take our rights away will not stop their efforts and we must keep up the resistance!

June 12 at 4:30 pm - The Meaning of Juneteenth, from Enslavement to Emancipation is a documentary created by KHOU TV11 staff of Houston, on June 16, 2021. What better way to honor the day than to hear the story from the lips of today’s African-American historians, experts, citizens, as well as the remarkable 94-year-old (in 2021) Opal Lee, known as the 'Grandmother of Juneteenth.'

Free Pride films at the Figge

In recognition and celebration of Pride Month, the Figge Art Museum presents a series of four award-winning, independent films in June. These films are free to attend and open to all! Movie attendees are invited to socialize and discuss the Pride 2024 film selections afterward with a complimentary glass of wine.

Join Project NOW at 6:00 pm at the new “EVICTED” exhibit—across from Dory’s Hallmark Store in Southpark Mall. We are hosting a panel discussion with two individuals who have experienced evictions as well as a representative from Prairie State Legal Services. Dwight Ford will emcee the panel and then everyone can tour the exhibit.
